Separation works in stages matched to droplet and particle size. A knockout section drops out the bulk liquid by gravity as the gas slows and changes direction; a vane or wire-mesh demister captures the finer droplets by impingement; a coalescer merges sub-micron mist into drainable drops; and a cyclone spins out solid particulate. The combination (and the gas velocity through it) is set by the separation efficiency the duty requires and the pressure drop the system can spend, with drainage that keeps captured liquid out of the gas path.
Built To Your Specification
Separation is a balance of efficiency against pressure drop, set by what is in the gas and how much must come out. There is no catalogue answer. We size each system from the stream analysis.
We take the gas flow, temperature and pressure, the nature and load of the entrained phase (bulk liquid, fine mist, oil aerosol or solid particulate), the droplet or particle size, and the required separation efficiency or downstream cleanliness.
Engineers select and stage the separation elements (knockout, vane or mesh demister, coalescer, cyclone) and set the vessel size and velocity to meet the efficiency target within the allowable pressure drop.
The vessel and internals are fabricated at our own facility in materials matched to the stream, CE-marked under the PED where it falls in scope, with drainage and inspection access designed in.
Systems are installed and handed over with documentation on completion.
