Vacuum pumps discharge a pulsating flow with strong tones at the pump’s operating and pumping frequency, often carrying water vapour, oil mist or condensate. Reactive expansion chambers tuned to those frequencies attenuate the low-frequency pulsation, with absorptive treatment where higher-frequency content allows; corrosion-resistant materials, drainage points and, where needed, a separation stage keep the entrained liquid from blinding the acoustic fill or pooling in the shell. Flow areas are sized to add minimal resistance, because back-pressure on a vacuum pump’s exhaust costs it capacity.
Built To Your Specification
A vacuum pump silencer is matched to the machine, the medium and the moisture. There is no catalogue part number. We size each one from the pump data and the noise target.
We take the pump type and capacity, the operating and pumping frequencies, the discharge composition (water vapour, oil mist, condensate or process carry-over) and the noise target at its location.
Engineers tune reactive chambers to the dominant tones, add absorptive treatment where the spectrum allows, and design the materials, drainage and any separation stage for the wet, potentially corrosive duty, within a minimal back-pressure budget.
The silencer is fabricated and quality-checked at our own facility in corrosion-resistant materials, with drain connections and mounting to suit the pump package.
Units are installed and verified against the noise target, with documentation handed over on completion.
