A turbine package opens to atmosphere at both ends, and the two paths could not be more different. The intake carries the compressor’s high-frequency, tonal whine; the exhaust carries low-frequency, broadband rumble in a gas stream several hundred degrees hot. Both are answered with absorptive splitter silencers: slim splitters and narrow airways for the intake, thicker splitters, wider airways and greater length to push the insertion-loss curve down the spectrum for the exhaust. Splitter geometry and face velocity are set so the silencer attenuates without regenerating noise of its own.
Built To Your Specification
There is no catalogue answer for a turbine silencer of this class. Each unit is sized from the turbine’s octave-band data and the boundary limit, with the acoustic and mechanical design developed together.
From the turbine’s octave-band intake, exhaust and casing data and the boundary limits, a site noise study allocates an allowable contribution to each path, yielding the required insertion loss per octave band.
Splitters, airways and length are sized for the target spectrum within the back-pressure budget, with thermal expansion, temperature-rated materials and infill protection engineered into the exhaust unit from the start.
Intake and exhaust silencers are fabricated and quality-checked at our own facility, in materials rated for the exhaust temperature and for gas-flow erosion.
Units integrate with the filter house or stack, are installed and verified against the boundary limit, with documentation handed over on completion.
