CE marking EN 13084-7

Certification EN 13084-7 & CE marking.

Official by notified body approved EN 13084-7 is the guaranty that your chimney is designed and fabricated with respect to the EN rules and codes.

For free standing chimneys as well as chimneys attached to a building erected in the EU countries  CE marking is mandatory as of the year 2005.

The official name is: 

Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC as amended by 93/68/EEC on EN 13084-7:2005/ AC 2009.



Element System Chimneys


Double-walled stainless steel chimney system. 
Element construction with spigot and socket connection, CE certified.
Consisting of inner tube, stainless steel material no. 1.4404,
T = 0.5 mm, 25 mm mineral fiber insulation and
Outer tube made of stainless steel material no. 1.4301, t = 0.6 mm, including all necessary fittings and connections.


Dynamic behavior of chimney

Large slender structures such as stacks are protruding above all structures and therefor effected by the wind.

The wind in relation to the slenderness and shape of the structure can lead to deflections of the chimney top in crosswind direction.

For slender structures such as chimney’s subjected to wind loading there are 3 main actions to consider:

  • 1. Gust winds, they displace the chimney in the same direction as the wind load.
  • 2. Vortex shedding, this phenomenon occurs when the natural frequency of the chimney corresponds with the vortices shed from opposite sides of the structure resulting in cross gas flow oscillations.
  • 3. Ring oscillations (ovalling) are a pulse oval oscillation of the cylindrical shell of the chimney.


Our specialism is the combination of silencers and stacks for power plants and the connecting ducting.

Within the Axces group we have years of experience in al sorts of silencer / stack combinations, freestanding, within a steel construction or combined exhaust on a central column.

The total costs of a project can be dominated by transport costs, bringing parts all over the world that do not fit containers is expensive. After all chimney parts are hollow pipes so transport wise far from ideal.

Build Your Own Stack

The Axces BYOS (Build Your Own Stack) program is especially for those clients who have the capability and equipment to build chimneys, but lack of the special knowledge.

Axces Industrial Stacks can be your solution; we can provide all the knowledge to Build Your Own Stack.

The BYOS program has 4 levels:



Solution 1

The use of helical strakes over a part of the chimney where the wind effects the stack.  
Positive for strakes is there will be no maintenance or malfunction of the system.

Negative side effect is the chimney is due to the strakes effected on a larger projected wind area, which leads to larger forces in bolts and foundation. Not every vortex shedding can be eliminated with stacks, second order or third order effects are nor eliminated.


Types of chimneys

  • Single wall free standing. 
  • Single wall guided. Double wall free standing. 
  • Double wall guided. 
  • Several flues in outer shell. 
  • Several flues satellite type with bearing mast.

We design for each project a custom made chimney.


Design and codes

Chimneys and constructions are designed according to design codes and standards.

Lots of country’s have their own regulation and code we know our way in the web of regulations and codes.

Examples of different design codes which can be used are:

  • National codes and standards. 
  • The Euro code. (new code for Europe). 
  • The DIN 4133 (German design code free standing chimneys). 
  • The CICIND (International Committee on Industrial chimneys).

Flue gas systems

A complete flue gas system designed in combination with the chimney will give the best results for thermal expansion, pressuredrop, heatloss, duration and safety.

The transport of the flue or exhaust gasses through the ducting or channels is a continuous dynamical process, in time the temperature drops and corrosion can occur.

Good knowledge of the process and duration time is necessary to design a good system. Together with the client we determine the materials and shapes of the custom made ducting or channels.
